The Preservation and Migration Commission of FIAT/IFTA hereby sets an initiative to facilitate request and donation of second hand broadcast equipment for archives.
Some recomendations to donators:
- provision of contact details of the person/company responsible for the donation process
- provision of detailed reference of the material on offer : complete name of the machine, series, standards, available technical documentation
- number of machines on offer : for Umatic and Beta VTRs, we recommend to donate at least 2 machines to the same Archive
- provision of any information about the condition of the machines, state of playing heads ...
- spare parts available
- size and weight of the machine
- existing facilities for packing and shiping the machine
- need for a donation certificate and a proforma invoice (for customs)
- preference for a country / archive (for instance, because your company may ship easily the equipment to this country)
You can download according templates attached to this posting.
The Preservation and Migration Commission will be responsible for coordinating the operations and providing the necessary support to donators, if needed.
